Who Should Attend?

This course is suitable for candidates who have attended the Introduction course or have sufficient knowledge and understanding of the basics of Excel.

The course is entirely 'hands on', so delegates will get practice in creating and modifying actual spreadsheets.

Course Objectives:

To provide delegates with an understanding of the more advanced principles involved in using Excel worksheets.

The course contains a structured series of practical demonstrations and exercises.

At the end of the course delegates will be able to:

    Understand and handle a number of advanced functions and formulas
    Get Excel to make decisions using the 'If' function
    Understand how to use date calculations
    Use Excel's built-in database functions including sorting and filtering data
    Apply validation to cells
    Manipulate and summarise large volumes of data using pivot tables
    Create and edit charts
    Create and use custom views
    Protect the worksheet
    Understand the principles of using macros to automate their work

Course prerequisites:

A good basic knowledge of Excel or completion of the Introduction to Excel course
